After 8 years in the Roanoke, VA area, I have decided to move to Charlotte, NC! We are very excited about this relocation and anticipate EXCITING things ahead for the business. As we pack, move and get settled, I will not be posting to my blog. I hope to be back and posting around the 3rd week of June. Thanks so much for your patience during this transition!!
I have come to realize more and more that for me, shooting weddings is bitter-sweet. More like sweet and then bitter. I come to know and grow attached to each amazingly unique couple and then before I know it, my work is done. Usually, I won’t get to see them smile, enjoy good conversation or laugh with them again. I have to accept that the time spent together will be both beautiful and brief.
This may be an easy transition for some photographers, but not for me. Maybe it’s because I get extra special clients or maybe it’s because I love people and it’s hard for me to let them go, even when they never really did belong to me. (more…)
I had more fun than should be legal on this session! Two gorgeous people, who are obviously “totally” into each other and look like perfect models that match like book ends!!! It was so fun meeting Luke for the first time. I had heard they had been “friends” in high school and were meeting for dinner and to get caught up. Well…they did! Caught up in each other!! That dinner not long ago, has blossomed into a full bloom romance and I couldn’t be happier for them both. Everyone deserves a great guy and from my observation Luke is a keeper!! I already know Emily is a great catch! To quote “Pepe La Pew” they will maaaayke bea-u-ti-ful muuuusic to-ge-tha. Ok, I probably really botched that French accent (it’s been a loooong time since I’ve watch that cartoon).
These cutie-pies were so fun to work with because I knew they trusted me completely and eagerly went along with each idea, while adding their own flare and personalities to each image! When you have a couple like that your creativity is free to run and play. Uninhibited! It was also easy because they interact together like a beautifully choreographed dance. I loved the way they gazed and giggled with each other and their feelings were palpable. At one point I said, “it’s getting steamy in here!”, and I assure you it was not humid that day.
It’s also been so fun having an assistant that is photogenic. We were just laughing the other day about the first time I photographed Emily. She went from awkward to super model in 3 sessions. Like a race car, zero to 60 mph in 3 seconds, that sounds pretty fast! Well, it WAS that fast.
Emily & Luke, I am so honored that you asked me to capture pictures of you all gussied up for Cotillion. Thanks for the memories!
Hello All! Debrah and I have been pretty busy lately with a wedding and engagement sessions as you may have seen! Unfortunately, we are going to be absent for awhile as the move to Charlotte approaches and we have much to do before then! There are so many wonderful and exciting things in store for us and the ideas just keep flourishing. We will keep you updated as these new things happen, but for the next month we’ll be organizing and trying to box up the business and Debrah’s shoes, to relocate. Wish us luck! 🙂
