Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Hope for a Happy New Year! 2015 had its highs & lows for me.  In life, there are times when you’re on a high, feeling celebrated and appreciated. Then there are times when you just feel like giving up.  And by YOU I mean ME. Although I am sure there are many out there that have experienced those same feelings.

Sometimes we may wonder what our path is. Are we on the right path? Whatever path you are on, just remember there is hope. Hope for something good ahead. A new year comes with much hope and anticipation about what the year will bring.

Hope that this year you will indeed lose weight and eat healthier. Hope that you will find that special someone to share your life with. Hope for a world with more love & less hate. Hope for loved ones who are sick, or hope for a better job.

Whatever you’re hoping for, may this next year be filled with wonderful surprises, fulfilled dreams and of course LOVE. Because whatever our hope or whatever our path, LOVE is what makes the journey worthwhile.

Happy New Year!  xoxo

Happy New Year!

Southern Wedding Featured on Xaaza Style!

Beautiful & Romantic Southern Wedding featured on Xaaza Style!!

Today’s southern wedding featured on Xaaza Style is a blend of African-American & Kenyan cultures. My sweet bride had custom cakes made for the national flags of Kenya & Trinidad, along with custom African necklaces made for her bridesmaids.

I LOVE, Xaaza Style’s gorgeous blog with its high end magazine look and some of the most amazing weddings & photography out there. So once again, being published by them is an honor. Xaaza Style is a fabulous place to go for wedding inspiration or just to feast on wedding eye candy.

Thankful at Christmas

Thankful at Christmas.

I am thankful at Christmas for so many things.  Mostly for the gift of my savior Jesus Christ. I love this time of year when people are more inclined to express their love and thankfulness for one another.

I want to take this season to say that,  I am deeply thankful for every bride and groom who  have put their trust in me to capture & preserve forever their cherished wedding memories.

Francois Mauriac says, “No love, no friendship, can cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on it forever.”

I want each bridal couple to know that they have left a special mark on my life forever. Thank you for allowing me the honor & privilege of sharing all the love you expressed for each other, family and dear friends. Thank you for sharing your tears, your laughter and your joy.

I walk away forever changed by the best parts of each of you. My hope is that our brief time spent together & the wedding images that resulted, was me sharing my best parts with you.

My work has been a wonderful blessing to my life and I thank God for appointing me to this great story telling mission.

Merry Christmas!

Thankful at Christmas

Elisa & Justin’s wedding featured in Munaluchi Bride!

I remember wondering what Munaluchi meant when I submitted this wedding to them. So I looked it up. The name “Munaluchi” is a combination of two African names (one Ethiopian and the other Nigerian) which when fused together mean “Beautiful Work of God.”

When I photograph the love between two people on their wedding day, I am reminded each time of what a beautiful work of God it is, to love another human being enough to pledge your life to them. The  love expressed between a couple on their wedding day is an amazing experience to be part of.

As you view this feature, you will see that indeed these two are beautiful people. And in  getting to know them, I’ve discovered they are just as beautiful on the inside. It was truly an honor to capture their wedding at the Hawksdene House in Andrews, NC.  I’m so excited that once again their wedding was published!

Thank you to Munaluchi for this feature, which you can view HERE .  Or view their wedding blog post HERE .  Thank you to Elisa & Justin for being amazing clients & congratulations on having your wedding be an inspiration to others on so many levels.

Kandis has been another popular bride for wedding publications. Her images have been published in several features this year. And most recently in the Bridal Guide Magazine.

I was surprised and excited when a former bride emailed to let me know she saw my image in the January/February issue of Bridal Guide Magazine. Which she discovered while perusing the pages with a recently engaged friend. I knew they had used some images on their blog, but was unaware of the magazine image.

Kandis you are beautiful and  once again the world gets to see you looking fabulous in your wedding gown!

Using my Right Brain

Using my right brain attributes & how they influence my business.

I believe I was designed by GOD to “create”. He infused me with major right brain functions: uses feeling, imagination rules, fantasy based, spatial perception, believes, appreciates, risk taker. Growing up I was always creating something (we won’t talk about the toilet paper pot holders, not one of my better creations). Then I found photography & fell in-love! The rest is history. To understand more about how I use my right brain attributes, these are my thoughts on the matter.

“Feeling” I use my “feeling” to connect with my subject on a much deeper level which allows me to bring out their true and BEST self. People comment frequently that my images are “full of life” and that they feel they’ve connected on a personal level with the subject. My “feeling” nature causes me to emotionally connect & genuinely care for people.

“Imagination rules” Why yes it does! It takes massive amounts of imagination to keep producing images that are unique & beautiful. And album designs that continue to amaze & delight my clients!

Brittany and Andrew’s rustic elegant country wedding was featured in DIY Weddings Magazine 5th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL.

This wedding was so charming! I LOVED all the beautiful and unique details created by Brittany’s mom Treva. She did an amazing job! I was so excited to inform Brittany that her wedding was going to be featured in DIY Weddings Magazine. Thank you, DIY Weddings Magazine for publishing this adorable country wedding!  The vintage style in mint & white was a perfect complement to the rustic wedding & reception venue – Rolling Hill Farms, Monroe, NC.

I originally submitted this wedding to the DIY wedding magazine as a blog submission, so I was surprised and excited when they messaged me saying that they wanted to feature the wedding in their 5th anniversary special of DIY Weddings MAGAZINE!

This entire wedding was a DIY project and one that will inspire other brides looking to create custom wedding decor. As expensive as weddings are, doing as much DIY as possible is a great way to filter more of your wedding budget into other areas, like quality photography (wink) and a great venue. DIY wedding details & family items are a great way to reflect your personalities.

Brittany’s mom thought of everything when creating this DIY design and I couldn’t be more excited for Brittany and Andrew to have their wedding published! You will be able to check  out the blog feature HERE and if you would like to see their entire wedding showcasing even more details, go HERE.

Featured in Pretty Pear Bride Magazine

Rebecca & Jason’s beautiful fall wedding was featured in Pretty Pear Bride Magazine, Fall 2015 issue.

Pretty Pear Bride Magazine is the world’s only magazine for plus size brides. By the time this lovely bride had her wedding day, she had lost 50 lbs. and looked stunning! What a wonderful opportunity for beautiful brides of all shapes and sizes to have their images showcased. Thank you to Pretty Pear Bride, for birthing this idea and for the opportunity to have one of my own lovely brides published!

This has been an exciting year for me. It has been the first year I have pursued being published. As an artist and die hard critic of my own work, I have been surprised, thrilled & humbled that my worked has been so well received by wedding publishers. Equally exciting is when I get to share the good news with my clients that their wedding images will be published!

Rebecca planned and designed her wedding and did an amazing job with all the details! I loved the table decor. It was rich with color and texture that beautifully represented the season. I’m so excited that her wedding to Jason will be a keepsake for them and an inspiration for others.
