The Lovely Alma, had her Bridal Session at Separk Mansion. With its historic charm and crystal chandeliers it’s the perfect place to feel & look beautiful!
You would not know it by these photos, but Alma could not stop laughing and giggling during her session. And who wouldn’t be giddy dressed in her wedding dress and knowing she’s only a few short weeks from marrying the man of her dreams! I met Alma when I photographed her best friend’s wedding. I can remember clearly her bubbly personality and infectious smile.
Her lovely low back dress complimented her beautiful figure. As I got to know her a little better during the session, it was evident that she is as sweet as she is elegant. Alma, Thank you for allowing me the pleasure of photographing you!
Sarah’s Bridal session – Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens
I have to say, I LOVE bridal sessions! And I LOVE gardens. So I was pretty much in Photography heaven doing Sarah’s Bridal Portraits. The weather was the perfect temperature, with a soft breeze blowing and soft sunlight filtered by hazy clouds.
Sarah’s fiance proposed in the GORGEOUS Brookgreen Gardens in Myrtle Beach, so another botanical garden was the perfect location for her bridals! She was a sweetheart to work with and I loved her enthusiasm and openness to get all posy after she warmed up to the camera.

Kara’s bridal portraits at the Duke Mansion in Charlotte, NC.
Finally, I get to show off this gorgeous girl!
This was the perfect venue for this 6 foot tall model like beauty! Her style of sophistication blended beautifully with the details of the mansion. I loved the romance & southern elegance of this session.
Her make up was done by Sweet Southern Glam and really accented her stunning blue eyes!
Her bouquet of white roses was done by The Blossom Shop.
Her dress. Oh my!! This fit and flare style by Casablanca was P-E-R-F-E-C-T! It fit her like a glove and the style and detail went beautifully with the overall feel of the location.
Her veil was the one her mom wore when she got married. Ahhh, that is so special. I really enjoyed having her mom there for the session. Yay Judy! You did awesome as my assistant for the day!
I can’t wait to share Kara & Stephen’s wedding images, which will be featured this coming week!
Yesterday’s blog showed the warm version of Britt’s bridal session inside the adorable and warm bride’s room at the Rolling Hill Farms. Today are the outside photos. Don’t let the sun fool you it was 55 degrees and poor Britt, although she was cold, rocked it like a professional! She use to model and dance so she knows “the show must go on”. I must say she was a trooper. Her performance was flawless!
Brittany’s Bridal session – Rolling Hill Farms in Monroe, NC.
I love the story of how Britt and her fiancé met, but I’m going to wait to tell that story until I photograph their wedding in May. They will be having their ceremony & reception at the Rolling Hill Farms, so she decided to do her bridal portraits there as well.

Bridal session with Elisa, at UNC Charlotte botanical gardens.
Just as I was leaving for this session it began to rain. Then it began to POUR, I mean like Monsoon! The rain was so loud on the windshield and we could hardly see the road. We had to travel about 40 minutes. I sent Elisa a text, to see what the weather was like on her side of town. Since she had gotten her hair and makeup done and a bouquet made for her bridal session, we just kept our fingers crossed that we were driving away from the storm. She reported that it was cloudy but no rain yet. As we continued to drive, I was pleased to see the sky clearing up ahead.
When Luke and I arrived at the session location the sky looked iffy. I knew I needed to work quickly & try to get as many photos as possible before it started to rain. Elisa arrived with her entourage of sisters and managed to change into her dress in the back seat of her car (impressive). She looked absolutely FABULOUS!! Her dress was amazing and suited her PERFECTLY.
The lighting was crazy, constantly changing. It was dark one minute, then bright with lighter clouds, then the sun would come out from behind the clouds. all the while, the sky continued to thunder warning threats and it was insanely humid. Welcome to the south!! I quickly shot while constantly adjusting my exposure, nervously wondering how many shots I would get before a downpour would interrupt our session and drench Elisa’s gorgeous gown. I was pleasantly surprised that I shot an entire hour before a few droplets began to fall.
I found a pretty spot to have Elisa stand and moved around her to get as many different backgrounds and looks as I could. Her dress was made from manly tulle, so I wanted to be careful not to damage the bottom of the dress. I discovered that Elisa used to model, which helped her to easily follow my directions. She was naturally very comfortable in front of the camera with made things run smoothly.
With the horrible lighting that day, I was thankful to have my son Luke, assist me by holding the silver reflector to get some light into Elisa’s eyes and fill in some of the shadows. I am very pleased with the results. Elisa, you looked beyond gorgeous! I enjoyed photographing you and I am super excited to photograph your wedding in August!! Yay, another road trip! (more…)
I could hardly wait for her wedding to occur, so I could post these bridal images of this amazingly GORGEOUS bride! Not only is she stunning on the outside, but she is truly one of the sweetest people I’ve met. She has been my hairstylist for about two years now and during that time we have gotten quite close. That old adage “only your hairdresser knows for sure”, applies on so many levels! I was thrilled when she asked me to photograph her wedding! Oh my gosh, doesn’t every photographer want to photograph a bride that looks like a Latin super model…Oh Pick Me -I DO! You’ll hear more about Denise and her love story in my next post…her wedding. The Ivy place is fabulous for weddings or any type of session. With it’s character, charm, gardens, pond, barns, etc., it has so many options for beautiful backdrops. They also have a spacious and beautiful room to change in, so it’s really a perfect location. Terry & Genie Graham (the owners), are super sweet people, which makes the location even better! Denise is super sultry, but also has the cutest smile and dimples, GAH some girls get all the looks (love ya girl). Anyway, enough gabbing…here’s a selection of my favorites from the session. Oh, one more thing…Bridal sessions are a super good idea. I’ve probably said this before, but not only is it a great way to have a trial run on your hair, make-up, flowers & the comfort level of your shoes, but it gives you another opportunity to wear your dress! I mean come-on, you spent how much?? EXACTLY!! So why not get all dolled up and feel gorgeous for a couple of hours. And you wanna know something else? It comes in super handy when the wedding day runs behind – yup seen it happen time and time again. No matter how much planning goes into making the day run smoothly, there are just too many links in the wedding day chain. So if you have had your bridal session done, you don’t need to stress…You got this!! (more…)
I’m excited to finally be able to post this bridal session at the Duke Mansion. It’s a beautiful place for a bridal session or a wedding!
